Hello Estera!

Every morning I wake up and think of 5 things that I’m thankful for in life.  This is something I have done since reading Oprah’s “What I Know for Sure” last year and recommend to anyone and everyone. It starts the day off with positive vibes and reminds me of just how lucky I am.  While number one on the list is always my loved ones, today’s number two is the opportunity to begin my new PR internship with Estera!

After graduating from the University of Iowa last May with a degree in marketing, I moved to Chicago to begin a totally new adventure.  Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, Chicago is a bit different than any place I have lived.  Exploring the city has quickly become one of my favorite things to do.  I love discovering cool places, trying new food, and learning about different ways of life .  During my junior year in college I studied abroad in Italy, and have since found that wanderlust is a real problem. I want to get back out there and  travel to the many places still on my list as soon as possible. My serious coffee addiction also began while I was living abroad.  A cup or three is the perfect way for me to start my day and a good book or one of my favorite movies is the perfect way to end it.

My sister Katie and I have an ongoing debate about who exactly is in charge of planning my wedding someday.  She used to watch episodes of David Tutera’s“My Fair Wedding” like it was her job, so she believes all design aspects should be her responsibility.  She is my own personal stylist and I have to admit she does have a special eye for the artistic details, but thanks to Pinterest I already have a head start on planning the big day all on my own.   Here is just a little bit of what I have in mind:

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year.  Very little makes me happier than the crisp chill in the air that calls for long sleeves and boots as well as the switch to darker colors in my wardrobe. Because of the love I have for all things October (Hawkeye football, Halloween, and my birthday included),  I see a fall wedding in my future with deep, rich colors like Marsala and Navy contrasted by Gold and Blush.  Using nature as much as possible and keeping decor simple yet elegant would be a huge plus.

More important than flowers and clothes though, will be the people and the celebration. I come from a large family with members living all over the world.  I can’t wait for the reunion, and the chance to belt out “I Will Always Love You” and “Jesse’s Girl” at the top of our lungs while dancing the night away.

Growing up, my friends always gave me a hard time about not crying during the sad movies we occasionally watched.  I recently had an “Ah Ha” moment and realized this is because I would much rather cry over the happy moments than the sad.  Seems kind of strange right?  When something is so sweet or full of love, its impossible for me to hold back the tears.  Last August my sister Allison got married in San Francisco, and I could have easily gone through a whole box of tissues during the ceremony. To me, there is something incredibly touching about a couple sharing such a beautiful moment in their lives with the ones they care about the most. This is why I am so excited to get started here with Estera; to share those moments with the world.

Until next time,

Martha Stewart’s Top Wedding Planner

Earlier this week, we were absolutely honored to see that we were named one of Martha Stewart’s Top Wedding Planners for 2014! We are beyond humbled to be named amongst the best in the business and are even more excited to see where 2015 takes us! We could not have achieved this honor without the support of our loved ones and all of our industry friends! You can see the article in the Martha Stewart Weddings Winter 2014 20th Anniversary Issue, or you can see it by clicking here!

2015 Pantone Color of the Year: Marsala

Goodbye forever, Radiant Orchid! The 2015 Pantone Color of The Year has officially been announced and let’s just say I’m obsessed. As a lady with olive skin, jewel tones have been a color that I’ve loved to wear since I can remember. It’s a total staple in my wardrobe and I basically consider it a neutral. My favorite lipstick is even wine red. Marsala is the perfect edition to the “color of the year” family and I’m so excited to see how this will effect wedding trends! It can be paired perfectly with blush pinks and dusty blues for the spring and summer months, and ivories and golds (also a neutral in my book!) once fall and winter hit — it’s so versatile. In true Estera fashion, I’ve put together an inspiration board for the perfect Marsala inspired wedding – enjoy!

Oh – and incase you haven’t seen it yet, my dear friend Emilia of Emila Jane Photography recently shot a wedding in South Africa and the bride wore a wine red dress that I’ve totally been swooning over.

Peninsula Chicago Wedding | Jonathan and Ghienhel

You know those clients that absolutely reinforce why you’re so in love with your job? That was totally Jonathan and Ghienhel. Not only are they adorable and kind, they are super stylish! From day one, it was so much fun pulling together their wedding inspiration for their Peninsula Chicago Wedding. Their ceremony overlooked Michigan Avenue on the Peninsula Terrace followed by dinner in the ballroom, which was beautifully transformed to resemble Fig and Olive Beverly Hills. Add in the champagne tower and the cake parade, paired with Ghienhel’s Vera Wang gown and Jonathan’s Tom Ford suit and you have an insanely beautiful wedding!

Four Seasons Chicago Wedding | Alexa + Jordan

Estera ladies love a good brunch! So when we first met with Alexa and she told us about her vision to host a brunch wedding, we were over the moon! But when she mentioned that her main source of inspiration was Rifle Paper Company? That’s when we got really excited!  This Four Seasons Chicago wedding was the perfect definition of approachable elegance. Alexa has fantastic style and did an amazing job combining the classic style of the Four Seasons with springy and bright Rifle Paper Company inspiration. The result? The chicest Sunday brunch wedding! Alexa and Jordan married on a sunday afternoon, surrounded by their closest family and friends. The bride and groom took their vows under a beautiful chuppah, done up with pastel florals by the one and only Fleur. After, guests gathered for an afternoon cocktail hour, where they were treated with a full bloody mary and mimosa bar. Brunch was held in the Lakeview room, overlooking Lake Michigan and filled with beautiful floral centerpieces, gold votives, and a magnificent view of Michigan Avenue.

Green House Loft Winter Wedding | Lauren + Jeff

WE’RE BACK! After a whirlwind wedding season, we’re so excited to catch up on blogging! Each post coming up will feature a different wedding from throughout the 2014 wedding season. Thank you all for your patience and we can’t wait to fill your feeds with more and more pretty!

As winter is quickly approaching, we can’t help but to think of the wedding that made us fall in love with this season! From the minute we met Lauren and found out she would be wearing a gold sequin gown, we knew we would be the perfect match! Luckily, we were equally blessed with her mom and sister being some of the most supportive family members a girl could ask for. With most of her main details already set in stone, we helped Lauren put together all the last minute touches.  Their ceremony took place at St. Hedwig Church in Wicker Park. After the ceremony ended the snow started to fall and guests lined the front of the church steps, sparklers in hand for the proper send off. You know you have loyal family when they willingly stand outside in the snow for you!  In true winter fashion, their reception was filled with evergreen, pine cones, gold and an endless amount of lit candles to set the mood for the night. We’re so happy to share this Green House Loft winter wedding with you! Maybe Chicago winters aren’t so bad after all…

….and then a wedding went viral!

It’s always fun to see pretty wedding details pop up in your newsfeed, and as a wedding planner, that happens a ton! But when something pops up and you recognize it as your own, now that’s exciting!

When you realize it’s a viral image that has over 40,000 views, 670 likes and almost 800 shares, well that’s just cause for celebration!

Sheela + Sandeep’s Miami Beach Wedding | The Bath Club

We’re so excited to share this Miami Beach Wedding! Sheela and Sandeep currently live in San Francisco and decided to have their wedding at the historic Bath Club in Miami Beach. From the lucite Mandap to the gold sequin linens, not a detail was spared in making this traditional indian wedding a bit more modern than most. When Sheela got in touch with us, we were absolutely thrilled!  Sheela’s super creative and really got into all of the little details, which we love.
We assisted Sheela and Sandeep in coordinating and designing their Pre-Wedding Welcome Dinner the night before their wedding as well as their actual wedding day!The wedding Ceremony, Lunch, Cocktail Hour and Dinner Reception were all held at the Historic Bath Club. Sheela wanted her wedding to Sandeep to feel fresh and light. While still nodding to the bold colors of a traditional Indian wedding, we were able to capture that by working with Parrish London, who created an amazing lucite Mandap and filled it with hanging crystals and flowers. Sheela wanted the entire reception space to glow of mint, and we included mint and gold accents throughout the space. The Bath Club has amazing furniture, so we were able to use all of it during the wedding.
